Linking Generations - Inter-Generational Programming

Intergenerational Programming

The Agelink Linking Generations program includes activities with residents on the campus as well as at Agelink, affording all an opportunity for intergenerational connection. The Linking Generations program successfully provides a unique and diverse opportunity that fosters increased self respect, sense of purpose and the feeling of being valued for multi-generations.
The program is designed to build mutually beneficial, ongoing relationships between younger and older participants. Contact between generations is frequent and includes both planned and unplanned interactions. Intentionally planned connections allow for learning and growing in a structured environment and informal visits provide the opportunity for recognition of a friendly face and familiar fond experience by both generations.
The Linking Generations program is unique because it is the only childcare and older adult community in Phoenix that provides an intergenerational component. Campus “Grand-friends” are able to volunteer at Agelink in classrooms and age-groups of choice. For Grand-friends who are less mobile and in need of assistance, the children journey to Campus on weekly visits to interact through a wide variety of indoor activities such as games, crafts and music and movement. Agelink has volunteer opportunities in all aspects of the mind, spirit, and body in every corner of the campus. Our volunteer base consists of Students/Interns, Campus Residents, Church and Community Members, as well as Agelink Parents/Family.
